Misconceptions, the debut EP from The Predawn Dark, revolves around the centrepiece “Is”; a slow-burning drone that anchors the record’s shifting moods and fractured logic. Around it, four tracks that pull in radically different directions while remaining part of the same uneasy world.

Featuring pulsing distorted rhythms, hazy nostalgia, dense percussion and submerged synth ambience before the EP dissolves into “Jaws”; a sparse closing piece built around drifting ambient piano.

Misconceptions treats genre less as structure than suggestion; assembling something singular from contrast, repetition and atmosphere.
